SGSY funds for Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The Union Government has sanctioned and released grants-in-aid amounting to Rs 57.49 crore to seven District Rural Development Authority (DRDAs) of Arunachal Pradesh towards part payment of first instalment of Central share of funds under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana' (SGSY) during 2007-08.

According to a Rural Development Ministry release here today,the amount of Rs 6.59 lakh has also been released to the Papumpare DRDA of Arunachal Pradesh towards second instalment of Central share of funds under the scheme during the year 2006-07.

The amount should be utilised on the Programme as per approved guidelines of SGSY. The funding pattern will be 75:25 by the Centre and the State.

The State Government should release its share within one month of the date of release of the Central assistance.

Under SGSY, assistance is given to the poor family living below the poverty line for taking up self-employment. It actively promotes group approach by organising the rural poor into Self-Help Groups.
