Rains forecast in east, northeast

Pune, May 22 (UNI) Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely to occur at a few places in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and at isolated places in Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and interior Karnataka.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed over some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Heat wave conditions also prevailed at isolated places in interior Tamil Nadu. Hot day conditions prevailed at isolated places in coastal Karnataka.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in Arunachal Pradesh, appreciably above normal in Assam and in some parts of south Chattisgarh, central Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, and were above normal in Kerala and in some parts of coastal Orissa, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra, Konkan, Goa and coastal and south interior Karnataka.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in Kashmir and some parts of west Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh and were below normal in Tripura and in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, north Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.

They were normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and at many places in West Bengal and Sikkim.
