Offence registered against AMC commissioner

Akola, Maharashtra, May 22 (UNI) An offence has been registered against Akola Municipal Corporation (AMC) commissioner Chandrashekhar Rokde and five others for allegedly beating up a former BJP coopted member Deepak Khotre.

Among the other five against whom offences have been registered, are AMC tax superintendent Nandkishor Ujwane and security guard Santosh Dongre.

Counter-complaints have also been lodged against Mr Khotre for hindering administrative functioning. Mr Khotre, meanwhile, has been admitted to a private hospital after he suffered fractures to the legs.

In his complaint, Mr Khotre has accused the municipal commissioner of kicking him and the rest had allegedly joined Mr Rokde in beating him up.

The row started when Mr Khotre had some dispute with the tax superintendent last evening over payment of house tax. Mr Khotre rushed to seek the municipal commissioner's intervention but was allegedly beaten up instead.

Mr Rokde, however, told reporters that he had not beaten up Mr Khotre and it was the latter, who in an inebriated condition, created chaos in the AMC.

The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in the AMC, meanwhile, held a day-long ''dharna'' in front of the district collectorate to protest the commissioner's ''behaviour''.
