Milan fans jailed for ticket threats

By Staff

MILAN, May 22 (Reuters) Four AC Milan fans have been jailed and three put under house arrest for threatening the club to hand over match tickets.

Italian media said today that prosecutors believe the ''ultras'' had even tried to force the club to give them tickets for tomorrow's Champions League final against Liverpool in Athens.

''The Milan club has received some pressure and threats connected to getting tickets. It has continued right up to the Champions League final,'' a statement from prosecutors said.

Milan and Liverpool were upset at only being allocated 17,000 tickets each for the match while Milan have issued several statements in recent days asking supporters without tickets not to travel to the Greek capital.

Italian soccer is trying to crack down on its radical elements after a policeman was killed during rioting outside a match in Catania in February.
