Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' was a runaway success at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in France, which was showcased on May 19 in the Best of World Cinema section to packed audience.
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani were in Cannes for the screening, but Chopra had to return just before the screening as his mother took ill.
Chopra said here today the director informed him that the film was screened in the 'Les Cinemas du Monde' section, which showcases the best of world cinema on May 19.
''Many people were sitting on the aisles, as the theatre was completely packed. The 200-seater theatre was packed to capacity and had 80 per cent white audience. There was also a big group of French students, who clapped till the credits were finished.
Chopra's 'Eklavya' will also be showcased in the festival in the same section on May 24.
