Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) founder-president Manda Krishna Madiga today refused to withdraw his six-day long fast, demanding categorisation of the Scheduled Castes, despite Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's proposal to place the matter before the National SC Commission.

An all-party delegation today went to Warasiguda residence of Mr Krishna Madiga and requested him to withdraw the fast. But the leader told them that Dr Reddy's proposal to place the matter before the National SC Commission and give it three months' time to take a decision on it, was not acceptable to him.

He said he wanted a decision within a month so that the students do not lose an academic year.

Meanwhile, MRPS activists continued their 'rasta roko' agitation at several places, disrupting traffic and damaging state-owned APSRTC buses.

''Madigas'', a sub-sect of the SCs, has been fighting for the classification of the SCs into A, B, C and D categories so that each category gets its due share in reservation according to its population.

Mr Krishna Madiga had initially planned his indefinite fast outside the official residence of the Chief Minister. However, he was arrested while coming out of his office. He was later admitted to a hospital as he fainted.

He commenced his fast at his residence following which Dr Reddy yesterday convened an all-party meeting which resolved to send an all-party delegation to the National Commission and urge it to take a decision within three months.
