Kar Govt to start driving school soon

Bangalore, May 22 (UNI) A sophisticated driving school will come up between Bangalore and Hassan soon, Karnataka Transport Minister N Cheluvanarayana Swamy said today.

Speaking to newsmen here he said the department had sought 15 acres of land from the Revenue Department for the purpose. Anyone who wished to learn driving could avail facilities in the school, he added.

He said for the first time the State Road Transport Corporation had introduced the system of E-Recruitment and the candidates could apply online. A notification would be issued shortly to recruit 5313 posts, he added saying that the posts included 2000 each drivers and drivers cum conductors 79 officers and 328 supervisors and 882 mechanical personnel. The mode of selection would be based on marks obtained in SSLC (50 per cent of the marks) and the marks obtained in the Trade Test.

He said 4805 new buses would be added during this year to take the total number of vehicles to 20050.
