ITGI joins hand with Assist America to provide Emergency Assistance

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) General insurance major IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Co Ltd (ITGI) today annaunced its tieup with Assist America Medical Emergency Services (India) Ltd, the provider of global emergency medical services for travellers, to offer travel emergency assistance services to its policy-holders in India.

The tie-up envisages individual Medishield policyholders with an array of emergency medical services during their travel within India for more than 150 km. The service has been rolled-out nationally by the company, ITGI release said today.

According to the release, the policyholders will be able to activate emergency services like medical, referral and monitoring, emergency medical evacuation, repatriation and companion transport.

Further, the emergency services will be offered without charge-backs, financial caps or exclusions for pre-existing conditions, hazardous activities or geographic locations.

Stating that Indian consumers with growing purchasing power are increasingly taking up travelling as a leisure activity, ITGI managing director and CEO Ajit Narain said ''At a time when traveling has become a leisure activity, by teaming with Assist America, we are ensuring our policyholders to feel protected and empowered with assurance for their health while traveling in India.'' He said the travel medical emergency service is part of continued commitment made by the company to provide customers with innovative products and services.

''We are proud to be the first and only general insurance company to provide this kind of service in the country,'' he added.

While Assist America manging director Abhijit Bhandari said ''This association will allow us to leverage ITGI's retail network in India and we are look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.'' UNI
