CII signs MoU with TUV to enhance SME competitiveness

Chennai, May 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Technology Development and Promotion Centre (TNTDPC), of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and TUV India Private Limited, subsidiary of TUV Nord International signed a MOU recently to facilitate CE, SA 8000, HACCP and other Certification processes for the Industry, especially SMEs of the state.

A CII release here today said after signing the MoU, Chairman, CII, Tamil Nadu State Council, Gopal Srinivasan emphasised the benefit of this programme in enhancing the competitiveness of the Industry.

He said the Certification would help the Industry and SMEs in particular to tap the global export market in auto components, electronics, textiles and food processing sectors.

Mr Srinivasan urged the Industry to avail the opportunity and enroll in the programme.

A series of awareness training programmes in CE mark for auto and electronics industry, and 'E' mark (Auto homologation), SA 8000 for the textile and leather sector and HACCP for food industry was being planned at various locations in the State in the first phase. This would be followed by inspection and auditing process, leading to Certification.

One of the highlights of the MoU was the preferential price package for the participating SMEs and Industry, the release added.
