Guwahati, May 22 (UNI) The Asom government today ordered a judicial probe into the alleged assault of two attendants by junior doctors at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Saturday night.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma informed that a magisterial-level enquiry has been ordered and the report will be submitted by tomorrow evening.

A police case against the accused doctors has also been registered, he added.

''Strong action would be taken against anybody found guilty, including the doctors. There will be no compromise,'' he said.

The father of a sick child and his friend were allegedly assaulted by a group of junior doctors on Saturday night when the former requested the doctors to attend to his child immediately. The doctors claimed that the father had misbehaved with them, while the latter alleged that the doctors were in an inebriated state.

The health minister also informed that the enquiry report into the death of a tea tribal leader Baishnav Goala due to alleged negligence of doctors at AMCH had also been placed before the government.

He said the report pointed out various lapses in the system and action will be taken very soon.

Mr Sharma also informed that present principal of the AMCH Debojit Hazarika has been transferred to the Barpeta hospital and Mr Taufiq Borbora, posted in Barpeta presently, will replace Mr Hazarika.

On the recurrence of such incidents in the AMCH, he said, ''The government has taken note of it and we will sort out things soon.'' UNI
