Asom board HS results out

Guwahati, May 22 (UNI) Girls outshone boys in Asom state board conducted higher secondary examination, results of which were announced today.

However, the overall pass percentage in arts and commerce streams increased, the science stream displayed a negative trend.

Out of the total 1,35,379 students who took the examination in the arts stream, 83,256 cleared it. The pass percentage was 61.50, which was much higher than the previous year's 57.11 per cent.

The top position in the stream was notched by an institutional private student Kangkana Sharma, scoring 427 out of 500 marks.

Cotton College of Guwahati had the highest number of three students in the top ten.

In the science stream, 9471 students passed out successfully of the total 13,838 students who appeared. The pass percentage, however, fell to 68.44 this year from last year's 72.52.

Darrang College's Anup Jyoti Deka stood first with 456 marks out of total 500. Cotton College had the highest number of nine students in the top ten list.

In the commerce stream, of the total 9,190 students who appeared, 6,170 cleared it. The pass percentage at 67.14 was better than the previous year's 62.55 per cent.

Nishika Ajit Saria of Gauhati Commerce College topped the commerce stream, scoring 422 of the total 500 marks. Gauhati Commerce College had four students among the top five in the stream.
