6 held for forgery

Vijayawada, May 22 (UNI) The city police arrested six persons on charges of illegally selling house sites using forged documents, at Kanur, near here, today.

City Central Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sri Rama Chandra Murthy told reporters here this evening acting on a tip off police arrested the accused who were trying to sell a person's house site measuring 500 yards using forged documents.

During interrogation A Ratna Sekhar, Giri Shankar, G Hari Babu, Danam Subrahmanyam, M Jagan Mohan Rao and J Ravi Kumar said they sold the house site measuring 390 yards belonging to Anji Reddy for Rs eight lakh.

The ACP said the crime came to light when Anji Reddy approached the Registrar's Office for clearance certificate.

Mr Murthy further said the offenders were also involved in selling another site measuring 200 yards in the same way.He said special teams have been formed to apprehend three more persons involved in the case.
