Dhaka, May 12 (UNI) Inspired by the series winning performance in the first two ODIs, Indian captain Rahul Dravid today said his team would utilise the success here against Bangladesh as a springboard to corner greater glories.
''Definitely, it is nice to win. It will help us be positive in the days ahead. There are tough challenges ahead of us. We will use this win as the springboard to face them,'' Dravid said after the 46-run win over Banlgadesh in the second ODI which helped the visitors take an insurmountable 2-0 lead.
Asked whether the victory would help his side forget the nightmarish World Cup, where India made an early exit, Dravid said, ''We can't do anything about the past. Now, its a good start for us.
We can look ahead at the future only.'' On the top order again coming a cropper, the Indian captain said part of the role of the top five was to play aggressively. ''They have to be positive upfront and take chances. In doing so, it may well happen that they don't click on a particular day.'' Referring to teenage leggie Piyush Chawla's debut, Dravid said, ''Seeing the conditions we decided to go into the match with an extra spinner. Moreoever, Sreesanth has a calf muscle problem. Nice to see someone get an opportunity and put his hands up.'' Quizzed on losing the momentum in the later overs, Dravid said, ''It was not the ideal of conditions. We lost a few wickets in the slog overs. But we were happy with the score of 284 under those tough conditions. We knew Banlgadesh will have to play really hard to win.'' Dravid said fielding coach Robin Singh's knowledge had helped the team.
''We always knew that the right approach was to work hard. There is a scope for improving our fielding. Our motto is to keep working on it.'' On Virender Sehwag failing once again, he said, ''As I said, people have roles. Everyone in the top order has a role to play. The top order has to go out and hit, and in the process they can lose wickets. We have to accept that.'' UNI
