K'taka to auction land acquired for Intl Airport
Bangalore, May 9: The Karnataka government has decided to sellthrough auction over 670 acres of excess land acquired earlier for theBangalore International Airport, Chief Secretary P B Mahishi said today.
Speaking to newsmen here, he said that the condition was that thesuccessful bidders has to develop the land in accordance with theAirport authorities guidelines around the International Airport.
The Karnataka State Small Industries Investment DevelopmentCorporation (KSSIIDC) has been entrusted to deal with the additionalland and it had already allotted about 27 acres to Karnataka StateTourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) which would utilise the landfor construction of Conference Hall, Hotel, Information Center andother related infrastructure, he added.
Mr Mahishi said that the Bangalore International Airport,country's first green-field Airport project was expected to be readywell in advance. The present six-lane highway connecting City to thenew International Airport would also be ready ahead of the schedule.
The state government also approved another parallel link road tothe Devanahalli International Airport work on this is also in fullswing, he added.
Replying to questions, Mr Mahishi said that the state governmentwas not lagging behind in implementing several centrally sponsoredschemes including Employment Guarantee Act Scheme and NationalHorticulture Mission.
He said that the state government is in constant touch with theRailway authorities to complete all the joint venture projectsincluding Gadag-Bijapur broad-gauge works. "The state government neverfailed in releasing its contribution under the Karnataka RailwayInfrastructure Development project" he added.
