Vijayawada, May 7: Lok Satta party Coordinator N Jayaprakash Narayan today said the people were 'disgusted' with the present political system in the country.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the existing parties were siphoning out public money under the pretext of implementing several welfare schemes. The illiteracy of the masses suited them well as people could not question them, he added. Advocating Government control over liquor shops, he said only 1,500 liquor shops should be opened with thorough Government check.

The liquor menace played with the lives of many people, a fact that he understood during his interaction with the people during his four-day 'Jana Rajakeeya Yatra' in Krishna district.

Mr Narayan highlighted the State Government's responsibility of setting up public health centres in rural areas as severe health problems confronted the people there.

He said the Lok Satta was determined to form a platform from where these issues could be discussed. The party had been receiving good response during the yatra and was able to enrol 2.50 lakh people, mostly youth and woman, he added.
