Shekhawat warns against global warming
Jabalpur, Apr 24 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has said that various natural calamities were taking place as nature was undergoing tremendous change due to global warming.
''Countries emitting poisonous gases in the atmosphere are responsible for this,'' he said yesterday, while addressing the 11th Rudratirudra Mahayagya at Anuppur district's Amarkantak, from where the Narmada originated.
Pointing out that population control was imperative for meeting the challenges of lack of education, unemployment, poverty and starvation, Dr Shekhawat said that self-confidence -- not weapons -- was the source of power.
''Even today, 26 crore people are living Below Poverty Line.
Girls and boys should be considered equals,'' he said.
The Mahayagya was organised in memory of Swami Bhajnanand Ji Saraswati Maharaj.
