Mumbai, Apr 18: The prosecution today filed a six-page supplementary chargesheet in the trial court against Praveen Mahajan who stands accused of murdering his elder brother and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.
Special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam filed the supplementary chargesheet and also submitted documents pertaining to Praveen's Reliance mobile phone, and the statement of Reliance officers and police officers, in the court of additional sessions judge S P Davare.
Adv Nikam said the supplementary chargesheet is with respect to the fresh material that has come out during the examination of the witnesses, including Pramod Mahajan's widow Rekha.
During her examination, Ms Mahajan had told the court that few days before her husband was shot at, Praveen had come to their residence and demanded Rs one crore from Pramod Mahajan.
Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Gopinath Munde, during his deposition, had stated that Pramod Mahajan had informed him over the phone of a threatening SMS message that he had received from Praveen. The SMS had read, ''Aab yachana nahi, ran hoga. Jeevan vijay ke saath ya phir maran hoga (There will be no pain now, but a battle. There will either victory or death)''.
These fresh material had not come on record during the investigations, and, so, a supplementary chargesheet had to be filed, Adv Nikam said.
Meanwhile, the cross-examination of Mr Munde will be conducted on April 24.
On the last occasion, the prosecution had submitted eight additional documents, including a supplementary statement by Pramod Mahajan's daughter Poonam, mobile phone of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, ''panchanama'' and other material.
