Rahul cancels roadshows, to helihop 7 districts in two days
Lucknow, Apr 18 (UNI) Amethi MP and Congress' star campaigner in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly elections Rahul Gandhi has cancelled his three-day roadshow.
Instead, he would hold 13 public meetings in seven districts in two days beginning tomorrow. He would use a helicopter to reach the 13 constituencies, Congress sources said.
His roadshow for the day in three districts was cancelled due to unavoidable reasons. But he would be in UP tomorrow and on Friday to hold public meetings. This would be his fifth round of public interaction in the state since elections were announced.
Districts of Sitapur, Basti, Barabanki, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur and Bahraich where Rahul will hold public meetings in the next two days are going to poll during phase IV on April 23.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be back in Uttar Pradesh on Friday to address public meetings in favour of Congress candidates for the ongoing assembly elections.
This would be the Prime Minister's second visit to the state. He was in Pilibhit on Sunday to campaign for party candidates in the district.
AICC President Sonia Gandhi would also address separate public meetings on April 20 for party candidates.
While Dr Singh will address public meeting at Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich, Ms Gandhi would campaign for party candidates in Basti and Balrampur. This would be Ms Gandhi's third round of campaigning in the state for the ongoing elections. On Sunday, she campaigned in Barabanki.
These districts too are going to the polls during the fourth phase on April 23.
