MP leading in Planet Earth Campaign
Bhopal, Apr 18 (UNI) Due to its active participation, Madhya Pradesh is taking the lead in the countrywide Planet Earth Campaign at the initiative of the United Nations for taking on global warming and several other environmental challenges.
''The chief objective of the Campaign, which will go on for three years, is a coordinated initiative to save the planet from environmental hazards of development. An attempt has been made to link high school students,'' National Science and Technology Council Advisor and the Council's Head (Science Communication) Anuj Sinha told reporters here today.
Among those present were Indian Science Congress Association President Harsh Gupta and Madhya Pradesh Science and Technology Council Director-General Mahesh Sharma.
''About 2,500 students, state Forests Minister Himmat Kothari and other public representaives took part in a Campaign-related programme at Hoshangabad divisional headquarters,'' said Mr Sharma.
