New Delhi, Apr 4: Nasdaq-listed BPO firm EXLService Holdings on Tuesday said it is exploring the possibility of serving the domestic BPO market, for which it has initiated talks with its global clients who have operations in India.

"We are exploring the prospects of domestic BPO work in our existing domains of banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI).

We are talking to some of our global clients who have presence in India," EXL president Rohit Kapoor told ET. Over 70% of EXL's revenue comes from the BFSI domain. EXL has Norwich Union, British Gas, American Express, IndyMac and Dell as some of its largest clients.

Mr Kapoor said that the company was studying issues like profitability and after-tax margins in the domestic BPO business. He said that it would work out a domestic strategy over the next 6-12 months.

"The domestic market is growing at 40% per annum and over the next 10 years it will continue to grow in size. Being an early player will enable us to capitalise on a leadership position and allow the company to build domain capabilities. It may also act as a training ground for our employees to work their way to international clients," he said.

EXL said the company was also looking to establish a 500-1,000-seater facility in Chennai or Hyderabad. "The new centre will be operational by the end of this year and we are already in talks with DLF and Mahindra for leasing space in an SEZ," he said. The company currently has facilities in Pune and National Capital Region (NCR).
