Govt to file petition on Cauvery: H.D.Kumaraswamy
Chitradurga, Mar 02: The chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that the government may consider filing an appeal on the Cauvery water issue.
Speaking to reporters in Hiriyur on Wednesday, he said: "Despite the state placing facts before the tribunal, it has awarded less water to Karnataka. But we cannot blame the advocates who argued our case."
The government has promised to complete the much awaited Upper Bhadra project within a specific time-frame and in implementing the same to provide irrigation to dried lands and to supply drinking water to people.
Later, addressing the gathering regarding the 18th Akhila Karnataka Kunchitiga Sammelan, the CM said:
"With India being secular in nature, many conventions are being held by different communities. If poor people resolve to come up in life through hard work, we should encourage them."
The CM iterated his government's commitment of stopping liquor sale, waiving of agricultural loans and assisting widows and the physically challenged.
