Two army jawans awarded punishment
Shillong, Jan 19 (UNI) An army court of inquiry recently awarded punishment to two of its jawans for assaulting two street children here last month.
The jawans, whose identity have been hidden, had assaulted Donborlang Kharbuli and Amit Sharma while they were bathing at a spring near Lady Keane College near Pine Walk Officer's Enclave.
They have been awarded with ''exemplary punishment'' after they misbehaved with the children, Col. G S B Chatterjee told UNI here over the phone.
However, he refused to divulge the names of the tainted jawans and the nature of punishment.
The army authorities here conducted the court of inquiry after several organisations protested against the frequent 'high-handedness' of army personnel in the state.
