Haryana earmarks Rs 486 crore for Municipal Committees

Chandigarh, Jan 1 (UNI) The Haryana Government has earmarked a sum of Rs 486 crore for the Municipal Committees of the state so as to improve basic amenities for the people in urban areas of the state.

Minister of State for Urban Development Savitri Jindal said that during the first time in the state such a big amount was being made available to the Municipal Committees for the smooth development of the cities in a comprehensive manner.

Mrs Jindal said developmental schemes had been prepared for ten cities so far and the schemes for 22 cities were also being formulated.

She said under the Bharat Nirman Yojana, a sum of Rs 200 crore had been earmarked for the improvement of rural roads and state highways.

The Minister said with a view to providing employment opportunities in foreign countries, an Overseas Placement Bureau and Foreign Employment Assistance Committee had been set up so that youth could be saved from exploitation.

She said the government was also committed to provide ample employment opportunities to the youth in the state. Therefore, efforts were on to motivate the multinational companies to set up their industries in the state. The setting up of Special Economic Zones would open tremendous avenues for generation of employment and economic development in the State, she added.
