Mumbai, Dec 31 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has greeted the people on the occassion of the New Year.
In his message, he said, ''The year 2006 brought mixed feelings for the people of Maharashtra. While the news of announcement of Jnanpeeth Award to Maharashtra's beloved poet-writer and critic Vinda Karandikar brought happiness to the people of the State, events like the bomb blasts of July 11 and September 8 left behind sad memories.'' ''The New Year provides us an opportunity to put behind the bitter memories of yesterday and look up to the future with renewed hope and aspiration. May the New Year bring peace, prosperity and happiness to all the people of Maharashtra. May it bring cheer to farmers, elderly people and children. Let us all resolve to put our best efforts in our respective fields during the coming year,'' he added.
