Lucknow, Dec 31 (UNI) To give impetus to the share of women in modern technical curriculum, the Uttar Pradesh government has established four career counselling centres at various state polytechnics.
State technical education department sources said here today, such centres have been set-up in state women polytechnics in Moradabad, Allahabad and Lucknow, besides state polytechnic int Kanpur.
''These centres are aimed at giving information regarding job-oriented diploma courses being offerred in the polytechnics and employment opportunities available to them,'' sources added.
At present, 17 women institutions are giving technical education in UP and they collectively have an admission capacity of 1,980 candidates.
Polytechnics run various technical and job-oriented courses, including fashion designing, interior decoration, cooking, statue making and handicrafts.
These specialised institutions also train students under several courses in the streams of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.
Besides, women candidates have been given the facility of 20 per cent reservation in co-education polytechnic institutions in the state to enhance their share in diploma-level technical courses.
