Give harsh punishment to Khairlanji massacre perpetrators
Mumbai, Nov 28: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today said that those responsible for the Khairlanji massacre in Bhandara district of Vidarbha should be accorded stringent punishment.
The Khairlanji massacre occurred on September 30, in which four members of a dalit family were killed by a group of people.
Addressing a public rally here this evening, Mr Thackeray alleged that dalit leaders like Ramdas Athavale, Prof Jogendra Kawade and Prakash Ambedkar will forget this issue once the Nagpur session of state legislature concludes.
He alleged that these leaders have not established any school or institution for the dalit section of society.
He further alleged that the dalit leaders, without mentioning any names, had raised the issue of the Khairlanji massacre to further their personal gains. Why otherwise did they not come forward after the 7/11 Mumbai blasts, he asked.
He told the gathering that he was not seeking their votes.
''Change the society,'' this is my only request to you. He also derided the Democratic Front (DF) government for its proposed plan to privatise Mahrashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
