New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai today said he had not yet recovered from the fact that Bamiyan Buddhas had been destroyed by the Taliban and that they had not yet decided whether to rebuild the statues or not.

''I feel very sad when I am reminded of Bamiyan Buddhas...I have not recovered from the fact,'' he said in reply to a question after his address at the Fourth Annual Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.

Asked whether Bamiyan Buddhas would be rebuilt, he said a lot of thinking had been going on on that subject.

''I don't know. Do you do justice by rebuilding... because Bamiyan Buddhas were built inside the mountain,'' he added.

Pointing out that many countries had offered to rebuild the Bamiyan Buddhas, Mr Karzai said no decision had been taken and only time could tell.

''We have not decided. Only time will tell us whether we will do it or not,'' he added.
