Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) today criticised the Mulayam Singh Yadav government for 'befooling' the people of the state by signing an agreement of power purchase with three power companies.

UPCC chief spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh in a statment here said that in a similar way the present government had signed an agreement of power purchase with the Reliance Energy Limited (REL) for the gas based Dadri project within three years time.

''But nothing happened even after three years as Dadri unit is yet to be set up and no one knows whether the power plant would come up or not'', he said.

Mr Singh said signing up of agreements do not assure power to the state and it was only an effort by the Samajwadi Part=led UP government to befool people and divert their attention.

He alleged that the government's statistic about the power scenario in the state was also incorrect as the line losses was over 40 per cent against the claim of 28 per cent.

He maintained that the Plant Load Factor (PLF) of the generation units of the state was also 50 per cent while more than Rs 2000 crore was pending as power dues.
