Truck plung into a dry tank killing four people

Mysore, Nov 12: Four persons were killed and about 100 persons injured when a lorry in which they were travalling, fell into a dry Kugalure tank near Hallare in Nanjangud taluk in Mysore district today.

According to police sources the ill-fated truck carrying over 120 persons from Hallare village in the district to Mallikarjuna temple Kungalli Betta near Talavadi in Tamil Nadu fell into the dry tank killing four and injuring another over 100 people.

The mishap occurred when the driver of the truck lost the control while negotiating a sharp curve and fell into the tank on his way to the temple.

While one person was killed on the spot, another three were succumbed to injuries while their way to the hospital. The injured were admitted to Nanjangud general hospital and some of them were reportedly critical. The deceased were identified as Pramod (6), Mahadeva Swamy (12), Mellaiah.(26) and Madappa (74).

The nearby people who rushed to the spot helped in sending the injured to the hospital. All the victims were the residents of Hallare village and also devotees of the Mallikarjuna temple and were on their way to pilgrimage to it the sources added.
