Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) Peeved with non-clearance of the gas deal by the Centre for the mega Dadri Power project of the Reliance Energy, the ruling Samajwadi Party today announced to stall the proceedings of Parliament over the issue in the Winter Session starting from November 22.
''We would not allow the proceedings in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha till the Centre approves the gas deal including the price of the gas for the Dadri Power project,'' said SP General Secretary and UP Development Council Chairman Amar Singh here.Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav also supported the views of his party leader saying that UP won't tolerate further the step motherly treatment by the Centre.
''The Centre is putting all spanners to derail the development of the state and on the other hand is provoking some so-called farmer leaders to raise their voice on delay of the projects'', the CM alleged.
Both the leaders were addressing a function on the signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between UP and three private power companies- Reliance, Lanco and GVK.
Mr Singh said when both the Ambani brothers were ready for the agreement of the gas deal for Dadri, why the Centre was delaying the approval.
''If they want to hike the price of the gas, they are welcome to do so but why Union Minister Murli Deora was sitting on the file?'' the UPDC Chairman questioned.
''We are ready to fight against the Centre and SP MP's would not allow both the houses to run smoothly in the coming Winter Session,'' he announced.
''We have 40 members in the Lok Sabha and 15 in the Rajya Sabha and they are enough for pressurising the Centre in Parliament to put our demands in a democratic way,'' he added.
The CM also said the act of the Centre was totally against the federal structure of the country and how can India become a superpower by 2020 if UP's development was neglected.
''I am ready to sacrifice my government if it was the only way for the development of UP,'' he said, adding the Samajwadi Party government was committed to uplift the infrastructure and development of the state. He also hinted that the Dadri gas deal might be approved by the Centre after the UP Assembly polls.
Reliance Energy Limited (REL) Chairman Anil Ambani, who was present on the occasion, appreciated the role of the UP government in inviting the private entrepreneurs in the state for its development.
Making a brief statement about the Dadri project, Mr Ambani said there were certain obstacles which had delayed the project but it would be resolved very soon.
''It was the committment of my father late Dhirubhai Ambani to support Mulayam Singh Yadav to develop UP and now it is my duty as a son to fulfill his aspirations'', he said.
