Chandigarh, Nov 12 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) general secretary Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded the arrest of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in the wake of 'clear indictment of the state government' in the inquiry report by Vigilance Bureau in the Ludhiana City Centre project.

Releasing the copies of the Vigilance probe to the media here, the Akali leader said the report had proved that his party's stand was correct on every point and alleged that the CM had amassed Rs 2100 crore through the City Centre scam.

Mr Badal said, ''This is a straight forward case requiring the registration of a criminal case under the anti-corruption law against Chief Minister and his ministerial colleague Chaudhary Jagjit Singh, MD, Today Homes and ousted chairman of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) and other concerned officials.'' He said the corrupt and illegal practices found by the Vigilance report had been pointed out earlier by the Principal Secretary of the government but the CM had over ruled all these objections.

The report had clearly exposed the CM's role in the Rs 2100 crore Ludhiana City Centre scam as he had repeatedly given clean chit to errant company, he added.

''The Vigilance probe has not only found prima facie evidence of corrupt motives but had clearly stated that the selection of the bidder itself was wrong, as the bid of Bestech who offered 43.1 per cent share to LIT was far more favourable than that of Today Homes, who offered merely 30 per cent,'' said Mr Badal.

The report also pointed out that the market value of the land for the project alone was more than Rs 3750 crore, as against the earlier claims of the CM, he said.

Mr Badal demanded that the contract to the Today Homes should be immidiately cancelled as the company has been indicted by the inquiry report.

He said when the scam was first exposed by the media, the CM had defended the awarding of the contract to Today Homes, which did not fullfil even the basic criteria of fiscal eligibility for the job.

Mr Badal said the Vigilance report has not only upheld all the charges levelled by the SAD about the wrongful allotment of the contract to the company but all found prima facie evidence of huge black money changing hands.
