Shillong, Nov 12 (UNI) Denying any 'leadership crisis' in Meghalaya, state Chief Minister J D Rymbai said ''leadership issue'' was a ''personal issue'' of his predecessor D D Lapang.

''We never discussed anything on leadership issue, but we discussed at length on the forthcoming Rongjeng by-poll,'' Mr Rymbai told mediapersons after a closed door interaction with AICC Secretary in-charge of Meghalaya here today.

Maj Prakash's visit to Shillong was specific only to Rongjeng election, the Chief Minister reiterated that ''there was no leadership crisis.'' Informing that he would convene the CLP soon after the Rongjeng by-poll, Mr Rymbai made it clear that the party legislature would have nothing to do with the trial of strength, but would discuss on party strategies for the Winter Assembly session.

The Ronjeng by-election is slated to be held on December 4 and results would be declared on December 7, while the Winter Assembly session would begin on December 8.

However, a visibly upset Mr Lapang was also present in the meeting. He maintained that the ''leadership issue in the state is still very much alive.'' ''Both of us (Lapang and Rymbai) have agreed in black and white to leave the matter with the AICC,'' Mr Lapang said, adding that ''we will not bury our party, but the AICC should sort out the matter (read leadership issue).''
