HLL flags off public campaign to aid street children
Kolkata, Nov 12 (UNI) Corporate Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL), manufacturer of the popular detergent 'Surf,' has initiated a public campaign across four metropolises and Bangalore to raise funds for underpriveleged children.
Named ''Surf Excel 10/10,'' it has every packet of Surf excel packet depicting a stained cloth, which covers a figure. This has to be SMSed to 455, and that amount would go to the fund being raised for Udayan, an NGO working for children affected by leprosy.
HLL had brought its brand ambassador, noted actor Anupam Kher, in this noble cause to raise funds for the education of the students at Udayan, HLL Marketing Manager Priya Nair told mediapersons that children should have a gratifying childhood and ''no stains should come in the way of their education.'' Comparing the crippling stigma associated with the deprived ones with stains on clothes, she said that ''by washing the stains, we can pave way for these children to lead a stainfree life.'' ''HLL has tried to sensitise the public to come forward and help these children and I am proud to have been the first person to have sent the first SMS for these noble cause,'' Mr Kher said.
'' If by washing stains, we can wash the stains of these deprived children, then I feel dirt is good,'' he added.
