Speaking at a high-level meeting convened to review the power scenario in the Jammu division here, State Power Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said, ''The displaced families of the border belts of the state would be asked to produce displacement certificates issued by the Tehsildars concerned in order to get relaxation in the power tariff.'' The Minister said the government has taken several steps under various Centrally and state-sponsored schemes to improve the quality of power in the state.

Responding to questions by legislators regarding the allocation of additional funds of Rs 2.61 crore for Jammu district, he said the additional funds under the power sector would be arranged for the purpose.

Mr Jora directed the engineers concerned to consult legislators of the respective areas while deciding priority within the allocated funds.
