Margao, Nov 12 (UNI) A fine bowling spell by Karnataka off spinner Karun Nair (4 for 34) and Ashwin Toshniwal (2 for 36) restricted host Goa to 174 all out in the first day's play in the three-day South Zone Under-15 Polly Umrigar Trophy cricket tournament match played at MCC ground today.

In reply, the visitors were 129 for 2 off 27 overs.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Goa wickets started falling at regular intervals. Barring Rohit Naik (40,8x4), Reagan Pinto (25) and Murlidhar Talekar (33,5x4), no other batsman could make any significant contribution and Goa folded their first innings at the total score of 174 all out in 73 overs soon after tea.

Karnataka, in reply, were in a comfortable position and were 129 for 2 in 27 overs at the close of play on the strength of Munnir Mohammad's breezy knock of 64 which was studded with 12 hits to the fence.

Goa's Ganeshraj Narvekar claimed both the wickets giving away 38 runs.

At the Fatorda ground in Margao, M V B Shriram's brilliant knock of 62, which was laced with eight hits to the fence, and Y Jagdish's valuable 47 and his last wicket partership of 53 runs with Raghav Pritam (13 not out) enabled Andhra Pradesh pile up 194 all out in 61.3 overs against Kerala in the first innings on the opening day.
