New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) Targeting two-billion dollar revenue by 2015, science-based products and services company DuPont will make India its research and knowledge hub and would ramp up employee base in the country.

''India has a strategic role to play in the company's 2015 sustainability goals. The country will mainly be used as a research and knowledge processing base in the years to come. We will invest heavily in the human capital here,'' Dupont India President Balvinder Kalsi said.

The company will add up to 3,000 new employees in India by 2010 and engage nearly 10 per cent of them in R&D activities. It presently employs 700 people and adds 100 to 200 people every year.

On setting up additional plants in India, Mr Kalsi said DuPont is looking at the market potential and will set up a manufacturing facility if the demand rises.

It has two units in Gujarat and Hyderabad and a research centre at Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Although the company is in pact with organisations like National Chemical Laboratories, Pune, it will take up R&D programmes independently.

The Indian arm of DuPont is registering a growth rate of 20-25 per cent and seeks to maintain the rate in the coming years. It earned revenues of 350 million dollars last fiscal, Mr Kalsi said while unveiling its global sustainability goals for 2015 here.

DuPont, based in the US, will double its investment in research and development programmes from the present annual levels of 1.3 billion dollars. By 2015 it also aims to double annual revenue from non depletable resources to eight billion dollars, besides reducing greenhouse emissions to 15 per cent.

The company also aims to introduce about 1,000 new products globally by 2015. Currently, it offers agriculture and crop protection products -- which constitutes a major chunk of its revenues, building solutions, automative paints, nutritious products and safety and protection products.
