Congress for CBI inquiry into misappropriation of funds by NGOs

Patna, Nov 12 (UNI) Bihar Congress today demanded CBI inquiry into the misappropriation of state and central government funds by the NGOs for execution of various welfare schemes.

In a release issued here, Chief spokesman of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee(BPCC) Kripanath Pathak said, ''Majority of the NGOs were fake and they have been siphoning crores of rupees.

These NGOs work only on papers and in connivance gulp huge funds meant for providing succour to the toiling masses'' he added.

''Some of the NGOs not only misappropriate the government funds but they have connection with terrorist organisations which poses threat to the unity and integrity of the country,'' he cautioned, Talking about the functioning of the NGOs in Bihar, he said, ''More than 1000 NGOs were fake and looting the government fund in the name of executing welfare schemes for the poor.'' ''Several NGOs working along the Indo-Nepal border have been indulging in anti-national activities,'' he informed.
