Child mortality rate low in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 12 (UNI) The child mortality rate in Tripura was 40 per thousand as against the national rate of 60.

Speaking to newspersons here last evening, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics-Tripura Branch spokesperson said it had chalked out a programme to bring down child mortality from 40 to 20 by 2010.

The two-day Thirteenth East Zone Conference of the Child Specialists would begin from November 18 here. About 136 representatives from Punjab, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, Asom, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh would participate in the two-day conference.
