Cheetah scare in Kashmir village; 8-year-old child attacked

Baramulla, Nov 12 (UNI) An eight-year-old child was attacked and taken away by a 'cheetah' from a village in Handwara area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir last night, leading to panic among the residents, official sources said today.

They said Sajjad Ahmed Raja had taken his son Adnan Raja out of the house at Rajpora village in Handwara area at around 2000 hrs last night.

Soon after, a 'cheetah' emerged from the nearby forest area and attacked the two. The wild cat later took away the child and escaped to the forests, the sources said.

Adnan was the only child of his parents.

The incident triggered panic among the residents who came out on the streets demanding measures for preventing such attacks by the wild animals in future.
