70 lakh children given polio vaccine in MP

Bhopal, Nov 12 (UNI) About 70 lakh children, up to five years of age, were administered polio drops in Madhya Pradesh on the first day of the three-day pulse polio immunisation campaign.

The campaign was launched by Health Director Yogiraj Sharma by administering polio drops to children at J P Hospital here today.

Madhya Pradesh Pulse Polio Incharge P N Chouhan said a traget of more than three lakh children was set for immunisation under the campaign.

He said the department had set up about 62,991 booths in all districts of the state in this regard. As many as 1,778 mobile teams and 2,248 transit teams were also pressed into service.

According to reports, mobile and transit teams administered polio drops to children in slums, factory premises, railway station, bus station and remote forest villages.

Remaining children will be administered polio drops at homes on November 13 and November 14.
