Panaji, Nov 11 (UNI) Chief minister Pratapsinh Rane today mooted the idea of opening ''night or evening courts'' to ensure speedy disposal of mounting number of litigations.

Addressing the annual meet of the Goa State Legal Services Authority, inaugurated by Chief Justice of High Court of Bombay and Goa Justice Harjit Singh Bedi here, Mr Rane also sought appointment of more judges and setting up of more courts to clear pending cases.

It was, however, for the judiciary and the legal fraternity to take the initiative so that the people, judiciary and the executive no longer worried about the pendency, He said.

Enumerating various schemes of the State government under the legal aid and advice programme covering even the economically and socially backward classes of the society, the Chief Minister said the government was ready to support the conduct of Lok Adalats at different levels that had been contributing to speedy disposal of cases in the state.

The Chief Justice, on this occasion, administered the oath of office to Mr Justice N A Britto as Judge of the Bombay High Court.
