Bangalore, Nov 11 (UNI) The newly-appointed National Cricket Academy Managing Committee, in its maiden meeting held here today, recommended the upgradation of NCA to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

NCA Director Shivlal Yadav, in a chat with newspersons who met him after the meeting, said the new committee, which met here under the chairmanship of Kapil Dev, felt that the facilities available at the gym were outdated and badly needed to be replaced.

He said the committee also proposed laying an astro turf pitch in the NCA and holding training for Under-15 cricketers at the Zonal Academy. The recommendations would be sent to the BCCI for its approval, he added.

Kapil said he was happy with the way the NCA was functioning and added that the Committee would meet frequently.

Besides Kapil Dev and Yadav, BCCI General Secretary Niranjan Shah and Joint Secretary M P Pandov were among the other members who participated in the meeting.
