Mysore, Nov 11 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Ramasheshan today said the Election Commission would depute election officers to oversee the poll expenses of candidates during the run up to the byelection to Chamundeswari Assembly constituency in the district.

Speaking to newspersons after holding a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials here, he said he would seek details of the expenses of each candidate after the last date for withdrawal of nominations and after the bypoll.

Mr Ramasheshan said 65 per cent of the total electorate of 3.69 lakhs in the constituency had been provided with photo voters identity card and the EC would allow 14 documents for identification purpose for those without the ID card.

Referring to violence in the constituency recently, he said the incident was a minor one. The EC would observe the situation in the constituency on a daily basis. There was no need for deployment of central forces as the situation did not warrant it, he added.
