'Pongalur' N Palanisamy sworn in minister
Chennai, Oct 29 (UNI) 'Pongalur' N Palanisamy, who was elected from the Coimbatore East Assembly constituency, was today sworn in as State Minister.
Governor Surjit Singh Barnala administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Palanisamy at a simple function at Raj Bhavan here.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, State Ministers, legislators and Chief Secretary L K Tripathy were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Mr Palanisamy would hold the portfolio of Rural Industries, hitherto held by Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy.
With the appointment of Mr Palanisamy, the strength of State Cabinet has risen to 31.
