NCP gains control of Thane District Central Co-op Bank
Thane, Oct 29 (UNI) A senior NCP leader from Thane district Mr Dashrath Tiwre was today elected chairman of the Thane District Central Co-op Bank. Mr Devidas Patil, also of the NCP, was elected vice-chairman of the Bank.
This is Mr Patil's second tenure.
In the elections which evinced considerable political interest Tiwre defeated his only rival former chairman and rebel NCP candidate B K Patil by a margin of 12 votes. Patil contested the election under the banner of 'Bahujan Vikas Aghadi'.
Mrs Sandhja Meshram unsuccessfully contested for the office of the vice-chairman.
The winners both Tiwre and Patil, secured 20 votes each while the rivals Patil and Meshram could obtain only 8 votes each in the elections where 28 directors voted.
This development implies that the NCP has increased it's local political clout by getting a foot-hold over a premier bank in the district.
