Militant killed in Kashmir encounter

Baramulla, Oct 29 (UNI) Troops shot dead a militant in a fierce gun battle in the Bandipora area of this north Kashmir district today, official sources said.

They said following a tip-off the troops conducted a search operation at Kudara village in Bandipora area this evening.

During the operation, militants fired at the search party, which was retaliated. In the ensuing encounter a militant was killed, the sources added.

Some arms and ammunition have also been seized by troops, they said, adding the operation was going on when reports last came in.
