Sotogrande, Spain, Oct 29 (UNI) A tenacious Jeev Milkha Singh carded a sizzling three-under 68 in tough scoring conditions to take the sole lead after the penultimate round of the five million dollar Volvo Masters here.

The Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit leader grabbed a one-shot lead over local star Sergio Garcia, Swedes Johan Edfors and Henrik Stenson, and Englishman Lee Westwood with his three-round total of three-under 210 at Valderamma.

Making his debut in the Volvo Masters, the Indian is targeting a rare Volvo double after winning the Volvo China Open which sparked a terrific run in form for the Asian Tour stalwart.

Jeev sank in six birdies against three bogeys as he set himself up for a great finish at the European Tour season ending event.

''I've seen the course on television so many times and hopefully I can keep going for one more day. If it happens, good. If it doesn't I've got another week,'' Jeev said after his round.

Jeev had a near perfect front nine with birdies on the fourth, sixth and eighth. The only disappointment for him was a bogey on the seventh which left him two-under at the halfway mark.

Jeev again started strongly on his way back as he gained a shot on the 10th but successive bogeys on the 12th and 13th pulled him back. Jeev, however, came back strongly and fired birdies on the 15th and 16th to shoot up the leaderboard.
