Hyderabad, Oct 29 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Ranuka Chowdhary today said the ministry would set up 'toll-free helpline' for receiving complaints from women on harassment and abuse, at the earliest.

Addressing the press here, Ms Choudhary said the complaints from women would be received under the provisions of Domestic Violence Act, 2005, which was enforced on October 26.

The officials of the Ministry had met their counterparts in the Ministry of IT for providing infrastructure to set up the helpline.

Expressing concern over the increase in domestic violence in urban areas, she said the issues of implementation of the Act would be discussed in the ensuing winter session of the Parliament.

The Centre would organise workshops and awareness camps on the Act Ms Chaudhary said adding the victims of domestic violence would be rehabilitated.

To a query, she said the State Government should appoint a police official to look into the complaints of harassment of women by relatives.
