Haryana to institute award for Hindi journalists

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced to institute an award to promote Hindi journalism in the state so as to give impetus to Hindi journalism.

This announcement was made by the Chief Minister at Taoru in Mewat district while inaugurating a two-day Inter-state Mediapersons Convention organised by MBS Media and Research Society.

The Chief Minister urged the mediapersons to desist themselves from writing baseless news without verifying the facts as it leads to unnecessary confusion among the people besides creating an atmosphere of rumours.

He said there was a stiff competition in electronic media in telecasting the news as quickly as possible without ascertaining the factual position.

He said sometimes this situation creates chaos in the general public. He maintained that when the people came to know the virtual position, the credibility of the media was adversely affected by such episodes.

Mr Hooda asserted that by adopting investigative journalism the problem of the people could be highlighted with an effective manner.

He said in this age of competition, the concept of investigative journalism was loosing its ground as it takes too much time to reach any conclusion.

He expressed confidence that India would emerge as a third power in the world within next 10 to 15 years.

He urged the mediapersons to play a pivotal role in highlighting the problems of the masses and contribute their mite in infusing the sense of nationalism among youths so that they could play an important role for the development of the country.

The Chief Minister said the Hindi journalism could play a vital role in imbibing nationalism among the youth as most of the people in the country were habitual of reading Hindi newspapers.

He also lauded the role of the English journalism in the nation building. He said that although the readers of the English were less as compared to Hindi newspapers yet it had played a key role in the development of the country as it was a international language.

Mr Hooda said mediapersons act as a bridge between the government and the people besides highlighting the problems of the commonman.

The Chief Minister called upon the mediapersons to discharge their duties with utmost dedication and honesty and maintained complete perseverance by using their skill so that the ugly situation could be averted.

He said that he was always in the favour of healthy criticism as it would help in rectifying the errors besides it would be beneficial for the common man also.

The Chief Minister revealed that a rainywell scheme costing Rs 450 crore had also been launched for the Mewat district so that sufficient potable water could be made available to the inhabitants of Mewat. In the first phase, a sum of Rs 240 crore had also been incurred and within next three years ample potable water would be made available to every village of Mewat.

While referring the demands put forth by the MBS Media and Research Society, the Chief Minister assured that full protection would be given to the mediapersons.

The Chief Minister said the government would consider setting up of an institute to impart training in journalism.
