Dalmiya conspicuous by absence, committee closes matter for order

Mohali, Oct 29 (UNI) Former Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya kept away from the disciplinary committee meeting which met at the PCA Stadium here today, which is now set to take an ex-parte decision in his case.

Despite repeated summons, Mr Dalmiya has not appeared before the panel.

This was the third time he did not turn up and the body, having spoken to witnesses and the treasurer, N Srinivasan, will now submit its report to BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.

In a statement, Mr Shah pointed out that despite the notices to Mr. Dalmiya, he had failed to appear before the committee. Mr.

Dalmiya was summoned on two earlier occasions and on July 17 he challenged the call in a Kolkata court.

On July 31, he was called again and once more went to court which asked him to file a detailed reply to the show cause slapped on him by October 3 and appear before the Disciplinary Committee a week later.

This too he did not do, Mr Shah's statement noted following which it was decided to take ex-parte action. At today's meeting, the committee recorded the statements of witnesses and took on record the documents produced by Mr Srinivasan and closed the matter for order.
